Jenny - if you can't go on living with your parents, wouldn't it make sense for you and your husband to look for somewhere to live near his work, then he wouldn't be spending so much on travelling and maybe you could find some extra work in the evenings or weekends? At least your family would be together.0

Hi Jenny22, if you have your tax credits award letter it has bit where it tells you about earnings changing. It will tell you if your earnings go above £*** then you must contact us and if your earnings go below £***then you must contact us. This happened to my sister who changed job and her earnings went down by about £4000 and she phoned them and explained that she was changing her job and her earnings would be dropping, they sent a letter to her new employer to fill in her earnings and her payments went up within a couple of weeks.
My SIL was on maternity leave a couple of years ago and decided not to go back to work and they phoned and explained and they worked it out over the phone and withing 2 weeks her payments had gone up.
£40 per month really does seem low so I would just phone them and explain that you are haven't been working since *** and how much your income has dropped by.0
