Sat Nav - confused!

I've been researching Sat Nav's for hubby's bd this Sunday and thought I'd found a good deal on the Navman, but then after reading various posts on the 'grabbit' board I'm having second thoughts now, I'm wondering if anyone can offer some advice please?.......
I was originally looking at the Garmin i3 as suggested by people here, Halfords and Comet seem to have it at £130. I thought I'd look at their other Sat Nav's and found Halfords have a Medion PNA 175 for a little more money, it seemed like it had more things on it. Then I found PC World have the Navman ICN 320 for about £30 more than the Garmin and again, it seemed like it had more on it.
So now I'm really confused cause links on this site show that the Navman website have the ICN 520 for £169. So I can get a better unit for about the same price as PC World are selling the 320 for!
I don't know what one to buy!!!!!!!
Am I right in thinking the Navman has more things on it like ETA, back on track etc? Or am I missing something with the Garmin i3? Looking at pictures of the various units the Garmin looks really basic?
I will do some 'foot shopping' in a while as I need to go into MK, I'll pop into Aldi, Halfords, Comet, Staples, Homebase and Argos and see what they have on offer, and I'll purchase a unit on Friday (when we have some money), so if anyone can help a newbie Sat Nav buyer out I'd be grateful for any replies before Friday
Thanks in advance
Lisa

The Garmin has an ETA at the bottom of the screen when navigating, it recalculates routes within a few seconds of leaving the chosen route. Plus the fact that is basic is one of the selling points. Once you are moving you want a screen and directions, at 70MPH the last thing you want to be doing is pressing buttons or functions. When you are stopped some people prefer the PDA's due to added features but for A to B and finding points of interest, for the price the garmin is ideal.Plus it's small to hide away or take with you when out of the car0 -
Woby_Tide thank you for your reply, after going around various shops I actually didn't think much of the Garmin, it has a small screen on it and does indeed look and feel basic.
For the difference of £30 odd I looked at the Navman one's, so I've decided to go for the 320 Nav as it's got lots of features that I know hubby will like.
So thank you for your reply but in this case I believe going around by foot to various shops and seeing them in the 'flesh' was indeed very helpful!
