Tricked by Natwest :(((

Two weeks ago i rung up the Natwest because my firm are now requiring a bank account to pay into as they are paying monthly now.
As my Credit history is not brilliant i applied for a natwest step account. After applying on the phone i was told i could have a current account. I asked if there was a credit check for this as i didnt think i would pass it and the girl said i had been accepted no problem. I told her i didnt even need a current account but she was quite adament so i thought to hell with it ill take that.
Now after two journeys to the branch to get passport pictures verified and wageslips photocopied and a further one week wait i have got a letter saying i dont meet the required criteria!!!!!
So now i still cant get paid from my firm who have held last months money until i find an account. And im almost broke and still have no bank account.
Help!!!!!

What about the post office? will they do an account for you? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
just get a basic cash account don't let advisors talk you into taking a current account, she done this probably cause she knew she would be getting a bonus when u opened it not because she thought it was the best thing for u.0

Hugs, did you explain to the branch staff that you only want a step account. They are there to help you (yes they will try to push things on you), just stand firm and say no. Be aware that they will periodicaly pull you in for account reviews to upgrade your account. Then tell you it can't be done as if you had asked for the review. Just keep saying no.
Hope it gets sorted hugs again.Barclaycard 3800

The Post office withdrew their basic account a while back.
I have reapplied to Natwest against my better judgement, this time for a Step account. It just means now i have to go through the whole ID verification in the branch, and wait yet another 3 weeks.0 -

Apologies if you have already pursued this particular avenue, but could you get an advance from your employers of an small amount of the withheld wage to keep you going in the meantime while sorting this out?
Hope it gets sorted for you soon..."Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

Just remember banks are there to get your money, be strong and stick with what you need. If it doesn't work out with Natwest then you can always move later.Barclaycard 3800

try the co - op cashminder or barclays cash account. in the meantime could you ask your employer to give you a cheque. you could cash it at one of those cheque cashing places - i know they charge you, but it would only be the once until you get sorted, especially if things are getting desparate. slash.0
