I have finally given proper meter readings to Powergen and I think that will make my next bill a bit smaller as they have always done it on estimated readings before.

    But of course! :p

Keep your landline with BT (handy for changing broadband suppliers to cheap ones) and get your calls through another provider.

I use Onetel, but I believe there's one called 18866 or similar that's even cheaper.

It doesn;t cost you to do this, you don;t have to tell BT anything, and you WILL save money on your calls.

    Hi
I have phoned Capital One to confirm that my 2nd amount on my payment scheme has gone in ok- which it has(as I know how long banks take to clear amounts!!)
I have then phoned the Halifax and changed an amount on a Standing Order.Later today I am going to have a look at Opening a Cahoot Savings account- ready for when we can save a bit each month

Try and submit a reading on a regular basis if you can. The system Powergen uses estimates future consumption based on your reading history; so if it has accurate reads then it can produce a more realistic estimate in the future.
The problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by skeptics(sic) or cynics whose horizons are limited by the obvious realities. We need men who can dream of things that never were.
