The £ cost of smoking

Everybody knows how bad smoking is for you, of course. Its also fatal for your wallet. I dread to think how much money I spent over the years on this awful pastime! see www. moneysavingexpert.com/health/quit-smoking-cheaply
I just read 'Allen Carr's easy way to stop smoking' - so far so good. I've heard from lots of previously die-hard smokers that worked miracles for them. Would recommend it to anyone. One of the best investments I have ever made, and not just from a health/lifestyle point of view. Aside ffrom the obvious costs of the ciggies themselves, you pay for insurance medical bills, productivity at work etc etc.
Anyway, hate to preach, but its one of those life-changing things that you want to share with the world. Apologies!

Congratulations.
The OH and myself packed up about 3.5 years ago. The money we saved is bought us a flat and pays the mortgage in full.0 -
Well done to you.
My OH & I stopped nearly two years ago, also using Alan Carr's book. Best thing we've ever done. The money we are saving is allowing us to overpay our mortgage by loads. It will be paid off in about 6 years, it would have been 22!!!0 -
I quit 4 years ago using that book - best thing I ever did (smoked for 10 years before reading the book).0

I stopped (40 a day habit) in 1994 using the "Stop Smoking" clinic at my hospital. We got patches at reduced prices as the clinic helped them with research at that time. Had to attend weekly meetings for 6 weeks or so. It was my 1st attempt and I haven't smoked since. I would recommend it to anyone.0

Welldone to all you quitters:T.
I stopped about 5 years ago using Ni-quit-in patches, and recommend them to everyone who is thinking of giving up.0 -
Well done everybody - especially for admitting quitting. I always know people are serious about quitting when they actually tell me they are quitting and ask me to at least remind them when they try to buy ciggies off me (I work in a newsagents that sells cigarettes and bacci).
The way I put my kids off smoking was not the health problems, I always used to tell them how much they cost!!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
