Second car insurance - advice needed quick!

Options
Having found a second car, I thought insuring it would be a doddle. No its not. My insurance for our other car (Citroen Picasso) is with Sheilas Wheels, satisfied with it, no probs. Just had to buy a larger people carrier for school run and tried to insure it thru same. Not possible 1. they dont do multi car policies 2. I cant count the 7 years no claims I have on my first policy for my second, and they dont insure people with no no claims if I was to start a new policy for second car.

Our situation will be: I own and insure the citroen, husband is named driver. He will take over driving the citroen (doesnt have his own insurance, so no current NCD) I will drive the VW Sharan mostly, but we both want to be able to drive each others cars occasionally.

I contacted Admiral because I know they do multi car insurance. They quoted £669 for the two. I currently pay only £243 on the citroen so wasnt interested in paying more for the citroen. The Sharan is old, P reg, so would even consider TPFT for that. Had hoped to insure the two for less than this.

Any ideas? We pick up the VW tomorrow so I need to get some cover
I have autistic spectrum disorder which is a social communication disorder so please be patient with me.

Multi car policies can often be dearer than two single policies so you need to look around.

If your husband is going to take over as main driver of the Citroen you can have your no-claims bonus transferred over to the VW - phone up Sheila's Wheels again and ask them what the difference in premium would be. Your husband would still be a named driver on your policy.

Then use the comparison sites to find a policy for your husband for the Citroen with you as a named driver. You may find better luck phoning a few as some will give your husband a no-claims discount based on him being a named driver on your policy, although some won't. However the comparison sites won't help you with this question. You may also find it better if he takes over the ownership of the Citroen.
