    Congratulations

Just had a bit of a nosey, but couldnt find how much you have paid off?

    Keep up the good work

I had 5k on a CC and 2k left on a loan and store cards with awful rates. I was paying something like £90 per month on interest of the cc alone, so followed advice and switched to a 0%, something i would never have thought of doing if not for MSE, then by time i cancelled the PPI on the loan I saved around £30-40 per month.

The store cards were the killer, along with an OD. My problem was that I paid off the cc with the loan (big mistake) but still used the cc.

I didnt need the cards etc, but got them to pay for one then got another to pay for another...In addition I never paid off the balances full each month, which I could/should have done, but was lazy and irresponsible. I wanted my sal every month to be mine. But how could it be when I owed.. silly I know that now.

This site has saved me and my family huge amounts of money. I cut down my mobiles to the min tariffs, stopped the jetting off every 4 months to NY shopping.. I know I know dont ask...so easy when you have family out there that keep telling you to come visit. And a girl like I USED TO BE ;) with a CC in NY is even more dangerous than Bush and Blair in cahoots.

And to make it worse they kept upping my limits on my cards. Was just too tempting.

Seeing everyone else and the budgets they set themselves on DFW there was no reason why could not do just as well. It became a challenge.

So I cut out my weekly trips to the salon, unecessary gifts for the kids, manicures, shopping, expensive lunches at work, phone calls, eating out, expensive make up, sold the numerous things I bought on my shopping sprees still with tags on on Ebay, down sized my car which meant my car insurance was cheaper too! so had money left over to buy another car and throw at the debt.

Looking back there was never a weekend that went by that I didnt go to the shopping centre with girlfriends and blow £100.

To sum it up I changed my life style, for a better one I might add and I am more happier now than I was with all of those material possessions that were filling a void. DS has found it harder, rather than just getting pocket money he has to earn it now, cleaning the car, doing chores, keeping room tidy etc.

Rather than spending loads of money on the kids taking them here and there we would much rather now go swimming, to the park, ride a bike, play games in doors etc.

I am glad though for everything, cause if there was no debt I would not be where or who I am today. And that is a much more happier and content person.
