Attaching Crystals to Veils!

I tried on the most gorgeous veil with my dress on Saturday which was a loooooong one and had crystals scattered over it. Problem is it cost £220
I have seen long veils on Ebay for relatively cheap (about £20 if I remember correctly!) and wondered which is the best way to attach crystals to it?
Thanks!

I think the easiest way would be to use fabric glue, but i would practice on a spare/scrap piece of tulle first so you know how much glue to apply so you dont get blobs.0

if you are thinking of doing that much why not diy the whole thing? all you need is a hair comb - 99p ribbon and the tulle? i was gonna buy off ebay but i'm worried about the quality of the fabric so i figured do it myself - plus its another way for me to spin out the wedding prep!Had a thrifty wedding 17-06-10

Oh - that's what is missing from my 'to do' list!! You just reminded me I have to do that as well.

My aunt gave me some sort of gemsetter tool to see if it was any use for attaching crystals - I haven't had a chance to open it up yet, will check what it's called.
£220 for a comb and a bit of tulle...at that price I would be wanting diamonds not crystals :rotfl::rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. It is quite simple to make your own veil. Tulle costs as little as 99p per m so if you want a long one, measure tip of head to floor and beyond( for train) and tip of head to about elbow length at front. Fold the tulle in half lengthways and "round off" the edges (it'll be like an over long oval shape) Again measure tip of head to elbow to decide where to attatch the comb. About 10" in from the edge and using smallish tacking/running stitches, run a line from 1 side to the other (with 10" in from each side) Gather them up and then overstitch them onto the comb. (Make sure the comb is facing the right way, backwards) To add diamante, use a good fabric/tack glue (in a gold tube from haberdashery stores/ market counters) as this dries clear.
Should do the job!!
ps. You can use silk tulle but this has very little body and can hang quite flat. Polyester is defo the best. x0 -
Thanks for that Linda! I may give it a go ..........
It sounds easy when you write it down like that but, jeez, I'll probably make right muck up of it!!!!

Even if you do, at 99p m it's a bit cheaper than the original.
http://www.cheapfabrics.co.uk/thestore/product_info.php/cPath/541_582/products_id/672?osCsid=crkchfeknd43p577pha6dsv3r6 3.99p m

http://www.fabricland.co.uk/ £2.79m (under dress netts and tulle)
Ok, my suppliers are a bit more than 99p m and have p &p to pay, so local markets may be the way to go.
Hope that helps. x0 -
