Try Waitrose they have 1/3 off small chickens, we get from that a sunday roast, curry and 4 days worth of sanwhiches!!!!!
M&S also have good quality chicken, although you do have to pay more, but you can taste a difference!!!!
I only buy chickens from these two places so i cannot advise on other stores!:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year

Asda own brand sell excellent medium size chickens at around £3.30, or 2 for £6.00, or 3 for £10.00. look for the labels.
I cut my chicken into separate portions - legs, breast - but I also use the back of the chicken. There is enough meat here for for one good portion.0 -
I buy 3 for £10 from Asda or Tescos, and freeze 2. have it roast on Sunday, a dinner on Monday (chicken and pasta usually in creamy sauce), and often enough left for sandwiches on Tuesday. We like large portions so can't stretch it much further....0

M&S sometimes reduce their chickens by amazing amounts, usually around lunchtime. I got four for £2 each the other day and they were huge.
TBH I've stopped buying any other sort of chicken than M&S or free range/organic. There's almost always a deal on somewhere that makes it as cheap as the budget chickens and the taste and nutrition you get from better chicken means it goes further, pound for pound. Really, worth keeping your eyes open for good offers and stocking up.Val.0 -
Surely at the moment the large ready cooked hot chickens at tesco for £2 have to be the cheapest? You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0

Asda often do two large chickens for £10, they are just over 2kg each, I have managed to make three meals for 3 or 4 adults from each one, depending on whether my older son is at home. Roast chicken with potatoes, veg. and yorkshire puds one day. Just over half of the leftovers to make curry or chicken in white sauce, with rice the next day. Use the rest of the leftovers to make coronation chicken and salad sandwiches. So that works out at £5 for three meals for 3-4 people, obviously if you have small children they won't eat so much in one go as my enormous 15 and 20 year olds!0
