Interesting stuff about the Eneloops - hadn't heard of them before.
The website says you need to use a special Sanyo Eneloop charger. That sounds unlikely - anyone any thoughts?0 -
Is it this one?Sid_Harper wrote: »Go to www.7dayshop.com and buy their £8.49 charger with eneloop batteries - unbeatable deal - those NiMH batteries handle high load and keep 85% charge after a year - they are batteries for life... and I bought a load for Baby Harper's toys

Nope. Standard charger that can handle NiMH will do. Sanyo do a PC15 charger (likely the same as the Energizer one, and also branded Fameart, that is a quick charger). That is not the one included with the £8.49 deal - that is the PC14 slow charger - but a charger nonetheless. Without the charger the batteries are £6.19 which is still a brilliant deal (unfortunately Argos had them for £3.99 half price clearance a few months ago and have sold out everywhere - gutting!)Interesting stuff about the Eneloops - hadn't heard of them before.

Fuzzgun19 http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=105240 is the one I'm on about; or http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=105241 for the batteries alone
They can be used in anything but if you drain your batteries frequently then normal NiMH with a higher capacity are better. If you use something a lot but it's not high drain and it goes on charge all the time, then a lower capacity NiMH will do (e.g. cordless phone, mouse).
If they are to go in something which is quite high drain but not used all the time, buy the eneloops (toys, torches, etc.). It's the rechargeable equivalent of an alkaline battery - will keep its charge for years
By the way similar technology to eneloop is infinium from Panasonic, Recyko from GP, Instant from Vapex, and Hybrio from Uniross. But Sanyo invented them. The thanks button is here to the right.
