council tax problems

Could anyone help me with a small problem?. I work as a long distance lorry driver. At most I spend 2 nights with my girlfriend each week. Am I considered to be resident at my girlfriends because I regularly spend time there, because she is claiming a discount on her council tax. Ay help would be gratefully appreciated.

Where do you live, other than at your girlfriends, and please don't say your sleeper cab.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

If that is your only home then yes, you are considered as resident and she is not entitled to council tax discount. However, i do understand your dilemma
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

The previous posters are spot on - if the property is your 'sole or main residence' then you are resident at the property and you cannot received a single person discount.

If you live in a property elsewhere as your 'sole or main residence' then you are fine and the discount can remain.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
