Just wondering if this will be ok to drink, as we have LOADS of bottles that have been given to us, and neither me or OH drinks it.
We stashed it away in a corner behind some old chairs and forgot about it, only discovering them today after moving the chairs to chuck out as they are mould ridden
now I am a bit woried it's gone off as the temperature has gone from scolding hot to freezing cold in that conservatory more times than I can remember. The majority would have been there for a year! The labels have signs of damp/mould on them, so it's not even as though I can give it away!
What do you guys think? would we keel over if we did decide to have a glass or two?!
Feeling very rubbish today as not only have two hairs gone to waste (they are VERY mouldy!) so has all this drink! some of it we had for special occasions or doign things for people. One bottle was a millenium commemorative one from OH's work, so we've had it 9 years this year.

Well, it has been sealed and I suppose it has been out of the light. It doesn't matter if the labels are mouldy. Try some. Uncork it, sniff it and then have a cautious sip. Maybe it's aged beautifully. And if you don't drink it anyway, you haven't lost much. Just swap the next lot you get for something you do like0

It'll have kept better laid on its side than if it's stood up. That way the cork will have kept moist, and is more likely to keep out the bugs
If you're not going to drink them, why not give them away, being careful to mention their provenance

Thank you for your replies, and thanks for the link Pink-winged! I did read a tip on there about freezing in ice cube trays for cooking so that will do for some of it, although I have never cooked with it before I guess I could add it to a red sauce?!
I think I am so paranoid that the fluctuations in the temperature it's been stored in will have made it off!
It just seems so wasteful that we didn't really think to look after it properly.
Most people know we don't drink it now (it makes me feel ill or fall asleep!), but occasionally we'll be given a bottle by people we don't know so well.0
