Argos are doing the Sony MZR410 for half price (£49.49):-
http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=2501&productId=100348&clickfrom=name
It was reasonable even at £99.99 but this is silly....

i put a thread on about this when they were in stock. they were managers specials at the argos extra store in burton upon trent, they're long gone now chief, but the good lady at the counter said there was another delivery on wednesday (yesterday) but they never know whats coming in. You never know - the only problem is that with managers specials you only find out when you go into a store and its probably only at that store anyway.
The original thread was called something like -argos burton NetMD like Ipod.0 -
Anyone know about cheap 1GB Hi-MD minidisc recorders (can store the equivalent of up to 45 CD's).
I can find the SONY MZ-NH600 for £89.99 in Comet & the Sony MZ-NH700 for £124.99 on Amazon0 -
I have the last Sony MZR410 silver minidisc player/rec. in the Clydebank store on reserve until close on Sat if anyone wants it. Message me for reserve number.0

Pardon the ignorance, but can someone please tell me what the pros and cons are between minidisc, i-pod and MP3. For example, do you download music onto a mindisc player or simply copy from a CD?
I ask because I am looking to buy some sort of player that will save my daughter spending a fortune on CDs0 -
minidiscs are basically digital cassette tapes. The new vesions of minidisc (net-md and hi-md) are able to upload files from computer to play (after being converted from mp3 to atrac format). But all minidisc can be connected to hifi to record from cd.
iPod (and the like) are like a mini pc hard drive which carry files around, but have built in player to play any music files on them. You can only use iPod with PC.
iPod is bigger (storage wise) but minidiscs have better battery life and ability to upgrade storage (via more discs).
for more info on minidisc go here http://www.minidisc.org/
Hope you understood that! Personally, I prefer minidisc because i've had one for a few years and have loads of discs. If you got one of the new hi-md's (from £100ish), each disc stores upto 45hours - easily enough to challenge iPod's storage with just a few disc's!0
