why is somerfield more expensive?

I've never liked Somerfield because of their lack of choice and high prices, as well as their horrible stores.
Maybe it'll all change when the Co-op takes over all their shops.0 -
Ours is soon to be a Sainsburys, one of only 6 that Sainsburys are taking
Cant wait, it will be so much better

Although I wouldn't dream of doing a main shop there, our local Somerfield's is really good at reducing prices
For example I've just bought a free range chicken for £1.54 instead of £7.89  They always have their reduced stuff at 75% off :j which is the only reason my mum & I go
Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker

I only go into Somerfield to pick up the free magazine which often has good recipes. Ours is always busy because of students who don't have transport to get to cheaper stores. I used to buy reduced items but now they have this tiered system of reductions 25%, then 50% etc so I gave up.0

It seems there are enough people who don't care about the price. I only buy whoopsed bread there.0

I go at lunchtimes because they do make excellent rustic bread rolls, usually still warm when I get there, and far better than any bakery or other supermarket near my work.
If my local store (Brentford) could be taken over by Morrisons, yet still keep making those rolls, that would perfect in my book...0 -
profit before co-op takeover basically.
source: somerfield employee .....unfortunatly, worst company worked for so far.0 -
Even my local Spar is cheaper than Somerfield. I saw medium free range eggs in Somerfield for £1.54, and paid £1.54 for large free range eggs in Spar. Tesco have them for £1 at the moment.0
