  • Hi,

Stretching to £215.95 gets you a Canon A95

Many thanks for flagging up this great looking camera. It appears like a simple camera yet has controls like an SLR, judging by the comprehensive description at megapixel.net - what a good web site.

    I'm tempted!

Do you definitely not pay duty and/or VAT on postal imports from France or other EU countries?

Beware the customs duty from 7dayshop

Customs charges are now prepaid from 7 day shop.

If buying from Europe there are no added taxes to pay :)

    they offer a good choice.

I bought my wife a casio exilim, excellent little camera, pentax lense and fast electronics, worth a look as the
    range is extensive.

The Z40 is £182 for instance inc vat

Another fan here of the Canon's powershot range. I own the A80 and I love - find it really useful in many situations. Also the ability to use normal batteries is really good in emergency. I bought a set of rechargeables and use those mainly, once they ran out on me with no time to charge them. I just popped in some AA's and off I went!
Old Faithful we roam the range together,
Old Faithful in any kind of weather,
When the round up days are over,
And the Boulevard’s white with clover,
For you old faithful pal of mine.
Giddy up old fella cos the moon is yellow tonight,
Giddy up old fella cos the moon is mellow and bright,
There’s a coyote crying at the moon above,
Carry me back to the one I love,
And you old faithful pal of mine.

The camera has arrived from Ebuyer "Superb Service" the cheapest price & delivered when promised, shame about the difficulties I had attempting to remember my login details.

    The Camera - Canon Powershot A85 £155 inc. VAT & P&P

I have only switched it on to check it works. It's very small using CF cards & standard AA batteries, she will love it. It is feature packed with easy to use menu system, the important controls are at the finger tips & it could easily be used with one hand, including ZOOM.

From a personal point of view I would have preferred the camera to have a metal body & would have paid more for this.

I think it will put the old Sony Cybershot F55E to shame but it will have to be handle with care to avoid damage.

Merry Christmas everyone & thanks for your help in choosing the right camera.

an excellent cheap reliable electronics website is
http://www.hiwayhifi.com and they have very cheap goods there.

bare in mind, the differences in 'mega pixels'. the more mega pixels u have, e.g. 5mega pixels, this means that you can take a picture at a higher quality-
    - think of it like this, instead of every square inch on your photo being printed with 2 million dots/pixels, its being done with 5 million dots/pixels.

however, normally, to the untrained eye, you cant see the difference in the final print much. u can see more of a difference in enlargements of pictures, e.g. portraits, when you enlarge/blow up a photo, this is where more mega pixels would be at an advantage.

bare in ming, the more megapixels there are, the more memory each photograph will take. if you take photo's at 5 mega pixels, you may find that you can only take half of the pictures with the memory disk as you can at 2 million pixels.
therefore, you have to buy memory, and this also costs

    Hope this helps ?
