undischarged vs discharged bankrupt

Thanks all for clearing this up, especially to fermi.
So, as I am not aware of any IPA being in place and the OR having responded positively to my request of early discharge, shall I raise the issue with him?
My background is that I am currently unemployed and have been so for the last 10 months. The OR only knows me as recipient of JobSeeker's Allowance and Housing Benefit. BUT --- I have a very good chance of employment coming up in either Derby or Sheffield.
The question is -
If the discharge process begins on 13th May, as the OR has announced, and it will take 8 weeks to complete, I should be discharged in mid July. Do I ask the OR if there is an IPA set up for me, or not? I do not want to wake sleeping dogs and make the OR aware that there is no IPA in place. He might just set one up for me before I am in the clear.
What would you do?

Really it is best just to let sleeping dogs lie.
I don't want to bring a downer, but a good chance isn't exactly a firm job offer. It would be best to wait and see. Not only that., but you have up to 21 days to let the or of any changes in circumstances.0 -

If you are on benefits, these are what the government deem as the minimum you can live on. An IPA is not given to people whose sole income is benfits. So stop worrying and look forward to your discharge from bankruptcy whether early or automatic.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. You should also be aware that even if they decide to push ahead with the ED then it might not necessarily take 8 weeks (so don't think it's not going ahead, if you haven't had one by then.
We were sent the necessary forms to complete in October 08, but did not get our ED until January 15th.0 -
UPDATE on Early Discharge
I spoke to the OR on the phone yesterday. She confirmed that this week letters were sent out to all my creditors asking if they object to me being discharged before time. If no one vetoes this, then I could be a discharged BR by the end of July.
I did not raise the IPA question and will keep quiet on that one.
I have been to a very promising job interview which might bring in 40K pa. If the job offer is made, I will postpone signing the employment contract until the early discharge is being made official.
Keep fingers crossed. I can do with some luck in financial matters for a change...

Brill news bissous, good luck with the job interview. That'll be a double celebration  :TDischarged May 20100 -
Great news on the job front - I hope your ED comes before the job offer. As others said though the ED could be shelved for no reason though.

Morning all,
Just a quick update. I'd like to share some inside information on how an early discharge (ED) and the issue of an Income Payments Order (IPO) can come about... or not!
So -- the process of my ED was to start on 13 May. Still, letters to my creditors asking if any of them have any objections to me getting an ED from my BR had not gone out by 9 June.
I knew because my sister is one of the creditors on that list. She had not received anything from the OR.
I called the OR asking what's going on. His assistant explained that paperwork (apparently between the OR office and the County Court) had to be exchanged first. She said with some embarrassment that letters to my creditors will definitely go out in the second week of June.
Funnily enough, the very next day I got an "Income Payments Order -- Questionnaire" which I completed and sent back immediately.
I am still unemployed and I stated the same.
I can't help it but to think that if I hadn't called, nothing would have happened for a few more weeks or even months.
About the IPO -- I am broke, have nothing, fridge empty and coffee cold. Nowt to gain from me. I don't think they will make me sign an IPO.
Keep fingers crossed that this will be over in 8 weeks, as was promised.
Best,

Thats what I meant. If they are going to come after you for money they have to say so before they discharge you.
Not quite cuddly, they have to have the IPA set up before discharge, they cannot put it in writing that they will start an IPA after discharge.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

It's known that ED paperwork will get put to the bottom of the pile if the OR is too busy, so even now there's no guarantee you will get ED if no-one gets around to completing your paperwork, and an offer of ED is not binding that you will get it.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
