A Whole New World

As a newbie to MSE I just want to say a big hi and a very biiiiig thank you to Martin, this site and all the lovely MSE people out there.

You have turned my life around and opened up a whole new world for me.

My lightbulb moment was more of a slow realisation that, financially, we were sinking - albeit slowly, so slowly that my o/h didn't even notice. And was I worried ....

I found this site, my o/h bought me Martins Money Diet Book as a jokey Christmas present and then, the scales fell from my eyes.

Since then:

I've started reorganising and so far have shaved £1100 off the utility bills & some insurances. All credit cards (ouch £22K - failing business but that's another story) moved to 0%.

I have slashed the housekeeping bills by following the Old Style Money Saving Threads and grocery challenges. Next it's the mortgage and bank accounts.

Finally, I found the courage to set my stall out and find a job (I'll keep my other business as a sideline just in case things pick up again ).

I start my new job at the end of the month. Thanks to reorganising our household bills we can live off my o/h's salary and mine can go towards paying off the credit cards quickly.

All of this is thanks to Martin and the MSE community. I could not have done it without you. Your stories, knowledge and advice have helped me more than you will ever know.

All my friends etc have been given this website and they will all be getting a copy of Martin's book for their birthdays this year!!

Once again, A zillion thanks and good luck to you all. I can now sleep at night and I cannot thank you enough for showing me the way.
