If you remove the housing costs and they then reasses you it will be 30% in net income, that is my understanding.
Hope it helps.0 -
Agreed but upwards!
It should not be more than 30% if no arrears, then should be 33% but in some cases it goes to 40% and on occasions like mien 67% of net income!0 -
No. No benefits for either of us. So (remembering my original dilemma of paying off the mortgage) we stand as:
On CSA1 wife pays the minimum £6 and we have to keep the mortgage
If we were on CSA2 she would pay around £18 and it wouldn't matter if we had a mortgage. So we would probably pay it off.
But if we pay off the mortgage whilst we are still on CSA1 then the payments would increse due to no housing costs. To what I wonder?

PM me the details and I will tell you!!!! I already know net income, so I need to know how old the oldest child is for whom maintenance is payable, how much your housing costs are eg how much is outstanding, the interest rate payable and the montly payments, plus I need council tax annual figure and your net income too. Obviously figures are all that is required, no personal details at all.0 -
Ignore me I am mad! Obviously I dont need the housing costs details doh!!!!
£135 - £64.30 = £70.70 halved becomes your notional assessment of £35 per week. This is less than 30% of your net income and will therefore be payable - I can't see that it will reduce unless you yourself are not working?0 -

So (on csa1) they half the amount of disposable income (after personal allowance and housing costs and this is what you pay?
Boo0 -
Yes, up to the maintenance requirement. It is slightly less if the PWC also has an assessable income themselves as they are both added together and halved so your portion is lower.0

Thanks kellogs. This thread has made my mind up about mortgage.

What's the decision then Boo if you don't mind me asking?0

keeping mortgage. Going for offset hence no interest incurred. Pay off mortgage over 10 years when youngest will be 19. It will be like not having a mortgage as the money in the offset account will only be used to pay back the capital part of the mortgage. But for csa1 purposes we still have housing costs.
