help plz....just got credit report thru

hello. big problem - just got credit report thru - shows loads of stuff is wrong.

me + my mum same first and last name only1 difference is am miss, she is mrs. :mad:

on report shows borrowings that are mrs...., but listed as being on my report

also says that i am financially associated to mr..., but thats my dad and i'm not financially assoiated to him my mum is, argh! :mad:

shows that i have and alias- is my mums name and d.o.b that is there, :mad:

shows my total lending to be £15k+ when in actual fact its like 6, because of stuff of my mums is showing.

what can i do about this? i seen last page is notice of corrections, nothing on there how can i get my mums name taken off of my credit report.

i'm so mad to find out this today - as i could have such better rating if her stuff was removed. The only thing to be thankful i guess is that she has no ccj's etc otherwise they would show on my report.

Hey Amy. First things first don't worry. It's nothing that can't be sorted.

Did you get reports from both Experian and Equifax?

I signed up for a free 30 day trial with Experian so to get a notice of disassociation from someone on my report I only had to email them!

There should be information on the relevant websites!

Hi Amy,

This is actually very easy to sort out (just been thru this with b/f who has same name as his dad). Write to the experian/equifax (who will have to check both as some companies record on one or the other) give them the details of the enteries which aren't yours, give the your mums name and date of birth and and ask them to check the DOB on the applicant. They will then be able to see that these aren't yours (in my b/f case he would have been 15/16 when some of the applications were made ) Also write to the actual companies, they can then request these to be changed. Their contact details are usually included with the report.

Experian/equifax didn't give any notification that the changes had been made, but if you wait 2/3 months these should have been taken off. Once you have your mums enteries removed, this should also remove the association with your dad.

Hope this helps, its a lot easier than trying to prove that there are two people with the same name AND DOB!

Afraid I know nothing about that website. Whenever I've got my reports I've gone direct to Equifax and Experian!

How much have you paid for that service and what did you get in return?

With my notice of disassociation it only took a couple of days!

called equifax, told them the site i had used, they said just to email the dispute and 'disassociation of name' thingy too.

Amy,

the notice of disassociation is just a sentance that appears on your credit file, it does not resolve anything because the errors will still be there. You need prove that the entries are nothing to do with your credit history and that they shouldn't be on your file. Email equifax customer services and tell them that these enteries are there in error, that way they can be deleted. By checking the date of birth of the applicant it should be obvious that they aren't yours (why they don't do this in the first place I don't understand) You also need to check your experien credit file as the same thing would have happened with them. A notice of disassociation and a notice of correction are two quite separate things.

Once you have submitted and had a notice of disassociation approved than all data relating to the other party will be removed from your credit file (and vice versa)

The notice of correction is what “newmoneysaver” is referring to which will be a short statement to provide additional information to any one who searches your file, in general theses ARE NOT RECOMMENDED as in all cases they will force a manual lending decision, which will invariably be negative.

The third type of notice is a notice of dispute, this is raised in relation to specific account information and all CRA’s have duty to contest the information on your behalf with their client and provide a response ( not a decision) within 28 days
