Silver Wedding Present ideas

Have got an invite to a friend's silver wedding party but have no idea what sort of present to buy. They are the sort of couple who go out and buy stuff as and when they need it so something a bit different would be nice. Any ideas?

Silver Birch tree for the garden?

Thanks for the suggestion but they have lots of trees in the garden and see them as a nuisance, especially in the autumn, so I don't think another tree would go down too well.

If you are close to any other people also invited to celebrate, and if they are agreeable sometimes a nice surprise theatre visit/west end show type present is nice, if one sorts the tickets, another the transport (train tickets what have you) and another maybe accomodation , it's lovely to see the faces when their initial confusion puts it all together , a local show is an alternative and maybe a homemade voucher to other to 'chauffeur' them if money is tight.
