DVD's not playing

Bought a brand new 4 disc DVD set, and can only get my DVD player to recognise one to play.
The others it dsiplays that there's no disc, and you can hear the player 'clicking' but not spinning the disc.
The disc that works, is recognised straight away, and you can hear the player spinning.
Anything I'm missing before asking for a replacement ?
No problems with any of my existing collection

The only reason I keep smiling is so that people wonder what I've been up to !!

It reminds me of a strange thing I noted with my panasonic Blu Ray player.
It can connect to the internet and have "up-dated" software downloaded to it.
When I read further on a techie web site, it appears that the updates are to ensure that the player can play newer blu ray discs - it appears that the specs get updated from time to time and this is to be sure that the player can handle anything. The updates name the film-blu ray discs that they are being issued for.
I don't know whether that applies to dvds now, I would have thought they were old enough to be very stable and modern players would play them all.0 -

The DVD format was standardised a long time ago and the encryption cannot be updated (old DVD players could not play them otherwise) so they are easy to copy. I presume this is so they can update encryption (and the players ability to decrypt) periodically as it gets broken and make it difficult to copy newer Blue Ray discs.0 -

Might be too simplistic but have you tried other dvds in your player since it failed to play the new ones? It may be just coincedence and the player has developed a problem or the player itself needs a clean??Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0 -
Other DVD's play in it after these ones have failed to play.
That's why I'm even more confused after the 'non-playing' ones played in my PC !!Baby-Mechanic

I think if you replaced them its unlikely theyll play. Probably just incompatible with your dvd drive
Having said that. As ONE works ok, then they might just be a bad batch. Certainly worth trying to swop for others anyways:idea:0
