Bridesmaid instead of wedding dress?

Options
Just wondered if anyone has successfully used a bridesmaid dress as their wedding gown? I was looking at some of the Sweetsend bridesmaid dresses on ebayand some of them are gorgeous.
I was thinking if someone was on a tight budget, it might be an idea to have one of these in ivory or white?

I was planning on doing this until I found an ex-display dress that was cheap. Go for it, and it doesn't even have to be ivory or white.

Yep,thats what I am doing,The wedding dresses were just too big and frilly for me.I prefer something much simpler and elegant, more like a nice evening gown. Also it was difficult to find a wedding dress the colour I wanted and the bridesmaids dresses come in so many more colour options.

You should have a quick look at BHS.They have a gorgeous long bridesmaid dress called 'alicia' which as well as the bridesmaid range colours comes in white.A white stole or bolero and you could have your wedding outfit for under £150.Remember quidco for cashback too.Order extra items and return the rest so you get free delivery(sneaky)

If you prefer the 50,s vibe which is popular just now look at debenhams, they had a fab white dress, either a bridesmaid or just a party dress, covered in roses for a very nice price.

My best friend remarried and she wanted the colour of her dress to be a shade of purple so she wore a bridesmaids dress. The dress she chose was a dark lilac and it cost about £100 excluding alterations - she looked stunning. :T

Worth mentioning that the bridesmaid dresses in BHS seem to be designed for really tall people lol so would probably need turning up. (well thats what I've found and I'm 5'6" .:o

I had a bridesmaid dress as my wedding dress, - it was a bright red with gold swirls on it. The staff at the hotel I got married in all commented on how nice my dress was, and how different it was.
