Advice: Strange Text Message

Hi Everyone,
I hope someone may be able to help. I am currently going through a DMP with CCCS and have just started getting the letters from my creditors asking for payments etc. I've just recieved a text message from 'MoneyAlert' asking me to call 'RMA' on 08717506699 quoting a reference number. Has anyone had one of these before? Im not concerened about speaking to my creditors, in fact I have already called them all and explained the situation, Im just worried it's one of those scams that charges huge bills to your mobile.
Thanks!
Bunny

RMA (Risk Managment Alternatives) are a DCA. Ignore the text, but inform CCCS they're harassing you. CCCS will have made them an offer and they should address all queries through them.

They're just trying it on to get you raise the offer, to the detriment of your other creditors.

you can put mobiles on telephony preference service as well as landline so u don't get scam stuff like that thru. it stops txts 2,its free of charge and is a gov. thing seems good.http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/

    Regarding TPS:
I have already registered my mobile and home number with this service-how long until it takes effect and if I'm registered, are they allowed to contact me on it?
    Thanks again,

  • It seems to be a newish thing with DCA's texting people. I've just started a DMP with Payplan however a few weeks ago I got a text from Fredrickson Internations saying

'This is not a sales message. Please call 0870 .... quoting reference xxxxx'

Of course I was going to do that, call a number that I haven't ever heard of which would probably cost me £1.50 per minute! Shocking!

I have had a few texts this week from Money Alert reading 'Message from MBNA, please ring 08000280689 to discuss a query'
I don't know if they realise that 0800 numbers, from a mobile are charged almost as premium rate numbers.
