Hi there
I have a basic bank account with the Co-operative bank. An Electron card with no overdraft. I too have an overdraft with my last bank which is part of my DMP.
Having zilch credit has focussed me........I now budget for everything. It's a bit weird getting used to not using a credit card for petrol, shopping....(everything basically...lol).
If you really want to sort out your finances.........don't get an overdraft facilityProud to be dealing with my debts   :wave:0 -
you can get a solo card with natwest on their Basic Bank Account
you can't go overdrawn with Solo as it checks your balance at the time of the payment and your bank allocates that part of your balance to the transaction immediately so there is no chance of making a payment in the supermarket then rushing to the cashpoint and drawing the cash out by mistake
i am not on a DMP (well i am doing my own) but just for info you can have more than one basic bank account.
my salary goes into HSBC - i use their excellent internet banking to make all my payments and i transfer my budgeted allowance for petrol, food etc into my natwest who give me solo so i can pay by card. incidentally natwest internet banking is not fully featured on their basic bank account.0
