"BR" tax code on second job? Entitled to rebate?

I’d be really grateful for any help you can give me on paying tax in a second job. It’s on behalf of my friend who works full-time – 35 hours per week Monday to Friday earning around £15,000. She is on the standard tax code for her main job. She has a second job, hours differing but approximately about 7 hours per week on a Saturday. The tax code for the second job is “BR”. Would she be entitled to a tax rebate do you think? Please excuse our ignorance, but I thought “BR” was the emergency tax code? She thinks it is just the standard code for a second job. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you all.

No, BR is not emergency tax, it is basic rate tax and is correct in yur friend's case. As she is liable to tax at 20% on her man job, then any earnings on top of that will also be liable to tax at 20%. Its a bit like doig overtime - the tax will be the same.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0
