Where to go with work issue..

Could be longish stay with me!! The basics are this:

I have worked with a man at the same place for 4+ years cleaning, before that i used to work there full time waitressing so have been in the same job for getting on for 10 years. The last few months he has started doing nothing..i.e changing 2 toilet rolls and letting me do the rest while he wanders round the building 'looking important' this took it's toll a few weeks ago when a friend of ours who covers holiday etc said he had, had enough and left. The man has been on holiday for 3 weeks and i have had 1 day off in that time, he then was supposed to return to work but rang saying he had done his back in,,he nevertheless still came into work to get paid for doing nothing telling me what to do etc while he watched...again i told my boss and he was suspended until he decides he is fit to work.

I have therefore been on my own now for 5 days with no help, one of the other members of staff offered to cover and mon, tue, wed she did not turn up, she did yesterday (late) moaned..did very little and went again!
SO i had another moan and was told not to worry the building would be done for me last night and i had to do x x and x which was fine...i got in this morning and guess what the place was a tip much to my horror so i did what i have never done before and thought stuff it..i did my bits left a polite notice and am now sat here having walked out and left it dirty.

I have sent letters saying that i am happy to do it on my own if i know BUT i want more money for the short term as it is 2 peoples job at the end of the day and i do have another job when i get home..it is very unsocial hours 5-30-8am and i am tbh fed up of it all..no reply this morning which is why i retaliated..

So what to do now, i feel i have followed every route and am banging my head against a very hard wall! I have said in toays note that there is now twice the mess left for tommorow and i want someone in..

Help!

Do you mean you actually can do the work of two people in the same hours if you got paid more money?

Surely the obvious thing would be more hours to carry out the work.

If you can do the job in your set hours, they are thinking 'why should we pay more' if you see what i mean.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I dont think refusing todo teh work will help - could even lead to disciplinary action against you. What you need to do is what can reasonably be expeted of you in the time your there if it takes 2 people working flat out normally then when your on your own just do half or ask managment which work they want prioritised

Yes i can do the work of us both BUT i break my neck to do it, plus there have ALWAYS been 2 of us so i don't see why i hsould do all of it just becasue they can get away with it? I can't do more hours as have to be home for 8am to start my next job!

Hmm disciplinary action against me, that's a laugh! we have no contracts and never have had. No matter how hard i try they never get round to it and i seem to be the only one who cares, I am very very reliable (lateish at rare times) but always there regardless..i always do extra bits and put myself out for it to just show that no one really cares. I have started doing half the work and that's why i walked out and left the rest..i left a note saying that i would appreciate of they could let me know what was happening this morning as there would obviously be twice as much work and suprise suprise no call no nothing just an extra filthy place this morning. I did all of it bar one room but am not happy in the least..i actually felt quite ill at work this morning and think it may be the fact that i have now been there since the 2nd of march with 2 days off and am probably experiencing exhaustion not that they would care. Tommorow i am not going in as there was this mention (when i pestered to ask what was going on) of 2 of the waitress's doing it and it was one of those chats that she will say it but will never remember tbh..roll on the alarms going off in the morning and waking my 2 bosses up at 6.30am when the members try to enter! Really iv'e had enough and maybe firing me would be best all round as i am not a dogs body!

Well they very kindly rang me and gave me today off and i had sunday off ..considering it is double pay at work they think i'm stupid! BUT i didn't go in as we were out last night and i really was so tired i couldn't be bothered! so took advantage of it. I feel better though so worth it!
