    A) Because there T&C's read that they will only delivery if signed for by an adult regardless of whats delivered. Pretty common really

    B) Yes as above

Maybe it is to stop children (teenagers) ordering stuff from Tesco etc online and using mum or dads card to pay for it ?
I suppose it might be a bit unfair on under 18's but then it is a sensible policy to have I think.

as previous poster said kids could be using mums card, it has to be delivered to an adult, that is one of the terms and conditions when you place an order, if the driver asked op oh for id he clearly thought he was under 18. i would take that as a compliment!!

It is common throughout most deliveries we have had, not just grocery deliveries. If a delivery needs to be signed for, then it has to be an adult who signs for it. I think (not know) that this might be due to contract law.

  • It is just the British legal system all out of synch (and therefore companies follow 'out of synch' rules)

I can have sex, get married (with my parents permission) and leave school at 16. But I cannot buy alcohol till I am 18. I can drink it though, just not allowed to buy it myself.

I can drive a motorbike at 16, where I am more likely to kill myself. But have to wait another year to drive a car. I could have driven a Robin Reliant at 16 (but my parents would not let me have one)

I had to do 'legal ages' as part of my Youth Work course and boy is was confusing (and stupid - not the course, the legal age limits)

The government needs to standardise the whole thing.
