% house rent help please

Hi could anybody please give me any help as to how much i can put through the books as me and my husband own a small business and are drastically running out of space at home. We would like to rent a bigger house with a study and a double garage for storage of stock. Obviously this is going to cost us quite a lot more each month and so would like to know where we stand. Thanks in advance

The short answer is that you put through the books what it costs you!
The usual way of treating the use of space at home is to take the annual utility bills, divide them by the number of rooms (excluding loo and kitchen) and multiply by the number of rooms used for business. Yu would probably have a case for also including the additional rent you have to pay for the lager property.

  • thanks for the reply that sounds quite reasonable.
