I am looking for a puppy that won't grow too big that would be free to a good home. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have tried the local pound, and all the puppies they have will grow to be too big.
Thanks.

Would that be Assissi? Try NCDL, Bright Eyes or USPCA - can you post name of your local pound, may help for giving you alternatives.0

Check also other council websites for unwanted puppies
What kind in particular are you looking or do you really mind. I know someone who is a reputable breeder of King Charles Spaniels but I do think they are rather expensive

Talk to one of the shelters, like Dogs Trust. They will help you find the right kind of dog for you and your family :-)0

I'm not wanting to buy a dog from a breeder. I'd rather get one that needs a home (and is free!). As it is just for a pet, I don't think it is necessary to have a pedegree. A cute little mutt will do. I asked at Craigavon pound and they only had larger dogs, which I would not have enough space for.0

Oh we're in the same area!! It's unusual to get a pup from the pound to be fair, although not impossible.
I waited over a year as I was certain I wanted to have a pup from the warden and you have to be very quick!
Here's a link to their website incase you haven't already got it, also John who run's the kennels is lovely and will let you come and visit anytime really, check the local papers too though did you see the article recently in the Portadown Times & Lurgan mail about the recession, they say family dogs are the first to go!

Also living in Craigavon area and we got our dog from John at the "Pound".. Lovely guy... When we got our Dog it cost £10 (Admin I suppose and they have had to feed them for the previous week) and you also got a Voucher from Dogs Trust to get it "Snipped" (Which I would advise getting done) so it does save a lot of Money. Also on the pup side.. We got a dog about 1 year old and it was already house trained so that saved us a LOT of accidents in the house. Worth considering... Pups are not all fun a games!!. Our dog is now a bit of a beast (over 40kg) but he just loves the kids and is really protective of them which is great..0

Oh and he's pure bred (but obviously we don't have any papers to prove it but have been told by a breeder) so you don't always just get Mutts at the pound..0

I agree with poster who suggested Dog's Trust [Ballymena based I think, but rehome all over NI], they will match up to your needs- they must have a website. Good for you OP.0
