One debt GONE

I cannot believe it - some of you may know i have this crazy way of paying my tax and VAT arrears in that i make a payment to the HMRC every day Mon-Fri and then make a payment to the VAT side of things every weekend.

I was over a quarter behind to the value of a few thousand with my next VAT return due at the end of May. I wanted to get it dealt with as soon as i could, I'm fed up of surcharges and never want to get in that position again.

I have just spoken to the VAT man...I have not only paid it off...but...wait for it....I AM IN CREDIT BY NEARLY £600:j:j:j:j

I am soooooo relieved. Means that i will be able to make this quarters at the end of May if i top it up.

Sorry, i'm just so happy. I can't remember ever having a nice conversation with the VAT man before. He was laughing at me down the phone I was just so giddy.

Thanks you for listening, I'm going to make myself a green tea in celebration :D

    Thanks Hypno.

well, the cc MBNA would be nice to get rid of. I am thinking of looking into reclaiming PPI as i am and always have been self employed. Problem is, i do not have the past statements that would indicate how much i paid them. I cancelled it in October 2006 cos it was costing a bomb and i was behind.

The tax is a rolling figure which will keep trucking on. Even when i clear these arrears (i may have retired by then, Im "only" 40) i will keep paying them a bit daily so i never get behind again.

Oh i am feeling just so much better knowing its gone.

  • And goes to show that persistence does pay off/dividends in the end ... ;)

Well, chirpier ... it's the way of things for me right now. Which isn't a bad thing, just lots of things to think about, and over. ;)
