    I've been Money Tipped!
Have you looked into daytime classes? I have the opposite problem to you, all the classes here seem to be daytime, geared to our large 'retired' population!

Do you have a bead shop near you? They may offer one-to-one classes to your needs.

There are lots of magazines available.

Try the links below, they may sell videos.

  • I've tried daytime classes and no where is offering them.....

Thanks for those links I will have a look now!

Try Beadcrafter, Bead & Button, BeadStyle magazines. Cost nearly £5 each in WHSmith or Borders and come out every two months. Lots of tips and step by step instructions for easy and difficult projects.

Or your local library for books?
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?

Hi, I have attended a jewellery class for 5 years now and although its very nice making the jewellery, selling it is a different thing altogether.

I have my jewellery in 4 outlets and it sells slowly.
The trouble is there is so much cheap jewellery from the far east imported over here .

I tend to make for weddings ect, people come to me asking for help when they buy a new outfit and need a match up.

Unless you join a jewellery class then you will never pick up the little tricks of the trade (there are so many).

if you do a search on google for "how to use jewellery findings" you should come across some lessons free online.

    good luck.

    P.S I am in Hampshire
  • I am getting into my new hobby of jewellery making and was thinking about booking a stall at one of my local craft fairs before christmas....

As I got a lot of advice on starting up jewellery making from you guys on here I was wondering whether you think this is a good idea. I dont normally go to craft fairs so am not sure what is sold there really....

I am hoping that I can sell some as I have already given loads away!

p.s please feel free to move me if i have posted in the wrong place xx

  • I am in the north east so i will have to look into when and where but i think there is one near me at the end of november. Harrogate or Malton areas.

Is there lots of people there selling the same sort of things?

Also does hand made jewellery sell well normally?

    Thanks very much
    xx

we have done ours in the south east. if you can, check out the venues before you book a stall. from our past experience in the first fair we were tucked away in an upstairs room, so were unavailable in that venue to pushchair/wheelchair owners. after that experience - with the same organisers- I double checked that we would be on the ground floor and asked if it was all in one room (it was a big hall, with a bar off), was assured it was - guess what - it wasn't!

please feel free to PM me if you want re wholesalers etc
