I have purchased a tin of ecomil instant soya. A instant soya milk drink. I think its discusting. I tried to make custard with it and it tasted so powdery.
Has anyone had any success with this and can suggest ways of me using it up. It cost so much, I don't really want to throw it.
ANy suggestions
thanks in advance

I actually rather liked this stuff
. I bought it so I could still drink soya milk when I went to Poland nearly 2 years ago now as I didn't know if I would be able to buy it easily (only some places there did I find it so it came in use).
I use it now to make semolina pudding if I want a treat. I’m guessing you could use it in baking rather well also. Maybe using it to make vegan chocolate cake as the sweetness of the chocolate would counteract the taste of the powdered soya milk you’re not keen on? Or vegan brownies - YUM!I am a vegan woman. Thanks both, didn`t know you could buy powdered soya milk, handy for emergency supplies methinks. May I ask where you bought it?.The more I see of men, the more I love dogs - Madame de Sevigne0

Thanks Doom and Gloom, maybe I shall try it with tapioca, as it is planned this week. I also have cocoa, so can try a choc cake, as you say the cocoa will mask the taste!
Bilberrycharlotte, I got in in holland and barrett.
thanks

I bought mine in my local health house. I believe that Holland and barrett sells them as well but I think it depends where you live. I haven't found it in any major supermarket yet. It is rather exspencive as it's over £8 now (I bought it last when it was £6-ish) and makes 5-8litres of soya milk. I prefer to make my own soya milk as it costs me around 15p/litre to make and if fresh. Sometimes it's not possible to make my own though (milk maker is to bulky and heavy to take traveling) so it is useful to have.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0

Oooh how do you make your own? What type of soya beans do you use, where do you get a soya milk maker from? At 15p/litre I'd love to
try this0 -
do you make bread, you could use it in that or with fruit in smoothies??- prior planning prevents poor performance!

VeganClaire there are many milk makers and you can get those that only do cooked milks or those that do raw also. Different ones include Soy Quick milk maker (http://www.wholisticresearch.com/shop/home/m/Shop/id/390/from/788/page/1/) and SoyaBella milk maker but it's best to buy one that you believe will be best for your needs and budget after researching them the best you can.
Mine has a heat and grind function for soaked beans, a heat and grind function for dry beans, a grind only feature as well as an only heat function and I choose this as I like raw plant milks as well.
It takes around 80g of dried soya beans (you can find these in most health stores, Holland and Barrett as well as some supermarkets) to make 1-1.5litres.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -

Hi, thanks for suggestion. I think i originally bought it to put in one bread recipe, but the ones I have been doing lately don't need milk powder. Will have to dig it out and use that recipe again, just to help use this up. Will try the smoothie idea and see how it goes, thanks

I haven't tried the powdered soya milk yet but I imagine it would be much the same as using powdered normal milk which definitely tasted powdery when I used to use it rather than real milk.
I would suggest that it would prbably be ok in baking or cooking. It might be nice for making a creamy sauce or you could try making vegan custard with custard powder and the powdered soya milk. Also try using it in puddings like bread and butter pudding (I had an amazing vegan version at easter with hot cross buns, bananas and soya milk - delish!). :T0
