Food mixer

Hi, I fancy being a domestic goddess without having to hold my beleagured hand mixer over the bowl! Where is the cheapest place to buy a food mixer along the lines of the nigella lawson one or a kenwood = the cheapest I have seen the kenwood one for is at argos for £180. Does anyone have one? Any insight before I buy one is very much appreciated. Thanks!

The cheapest I've seen the Kenwood is in Argos. I only drag mine out for heavy duty jobs like Christmas Cake/Pudding and high volume baking. It really is the business. The rest of the time I use my ancient 1970's leccy hand mixer cos it's quick 'n' easy.

  • I can't comment on it, but hometek do 2 mixers with stands for £30 and £35

I also had a hand blender that committed suicide shortly after I bought it - some of the batter got into the motor... :-[ ::)

  • Thanks for the replies! Hoping Santa will bring a kenwood! I looked at the other one but although I loved the price - i think I need the more industrial one!Cheers! ;D
  • Depending how much you want to spend they sometimes have secondhand Kenwood Chefs on Ebay some with all sorts of useless attachments wheat mill ,sausage maker, cream maker, mincer, can opener ,potato peeler, juice seperatator etc. I think they go for around £25 - £35.
They might be old but they are good, I can attest to this as my Dad bought my Mum one of the kenwood Chefs back in the 1970s with every attachment they ever made and I am still using it now at least once a week only had one repair in its life when I broke the Liquidiser lid.

I agree that last forever. Mine is 1960's and still going strong. The only attachment I use is the blender, probably because it's the only attachment I've got ::)

  • If you want it in time for christmas, maybe you could look on ebay (https://www.ebay.co.uk). Last time I looked (november) for food mixer, they have HUGE amount of Kenwood ones for sale! Cheaper than kenwood shops obviously.

If you want like later in January, I might be able to help. My friend used to work in Kenwood, but she still gets staff discount there when she shops for kenwood stuff. So might be able to buy there cheaper than what you get in Argos! Trust me, I got my mixer there. £19.99 for the food processor+mixer.
