Money taken out wrongly

Hi people
I am a long time watcher 1st time user. After reading this site and getting the book, it gave me the knowledge and guts to sort out a problem that happened yesterday.
My wife is currently off sick getting treatment for cancer and i an off sick to care for her. She has protection for a loan and we applied to use it on the 28 Oct. No major issues apart from her having to write a letter for me to be able to handle her affairs regarding this.
After the direct debit was canceled when the insurance comp. took over the loan the loan company re-started the dd under a different name??? I made contact with the company and was told that even though it took 2 days for them to arrange to get money, putting us in the red and causing £11 fee it would take 3 weeks to get our money back!!!!! I put the phone down read the chapters of the book and rang up again. Success!!!! Money will be in by 17-00 Friday and fees reimbursed. Just proves that if you push you can get it

  • Well done, Collie, and good luck to you and your wife in what must be a difficult time.
  • Yes well done and good luck.

Also please note that if any company takes an unauthorised sum out of your bank account by direct debit then go straight to your bank and ask for them to refund you immediately under the d/d indemnity scheme.
All companies who are given authority to set up d/d have to sign up for this condition.

In addition to this you can claim back any charges incurred because of a DD which has caused you to go overdrawn or have cheques returned unpaid.
Just run, run and keep on running!
