If you look on their website

    http://www.dreamhost.com/shared/comparison.html

you will see that you have to sign up for 2 years and pay upfront to get $7.95 per month, thats is not far short of fasthosts which does not have a 2 year contract to get the lowest price.

Also their 24hour support is e-mail, fasthosts is human !.
you sign up to $9.95 a month plan and put that code in

that site is 24 hour support via humans. the features you cant even compare aswell.

    Dreamhost are excellent.

I'd love to refer you, but unfortunately using the 777 code means no credit for referrers;)

However, that means an unbiased review:

I spent my $9 or whatever for the first year, and was very impressed, features are very good, uptimes excellent, and customer service quick and helpful. Suffice to say i'm still with them after 18 months (paying $9 a month), and i'm not planning on leaving. In fact i'm migrating services across from 1and1 so I can use dreamhost as my sole provider.

Sorry, but where does it say you have to stay with Dreamhost's for 2 years?

I am really sorry I am not sure on the techincal stuff like speeds etc but I have had no problems that haven't been my own errors with regards to settings etc and they have always been resolved really quickly via their support forum or IRC chat facility.

I have had no probs at all with uploading/downloading etc....

They now offer a paid for service that means you get no adds on your site... this is about $2 a month I think (but I am more than happy with the excellent freebie service I receive so will stick with that for now!) check out here: http://www.jamroll.co.uk/?page=remove.ads *$2.00 a month if you prepay 3 months. $2.50 if you buy 1 month at a time.
