Only at the beginning stage and already mega stressed

We only started planning our wedding a few weeks ago and i'm already losing sleep.

We have booked and paid for the church to get wed on the 24/04/10 and we thought we had found our venue. It was only a conservative club, but quite newly built and nice, but every time I speak to the place it seems there is less and less I can do. I cant even re arrange the tables to how i want them set out .

Anyway h2b has had enough and said we are not having the reception there and so spent all day yesterday ringing round venues we must have phone 11. The only place that has any availability has someone penciled in on our date, but no deposit has been taken. We are going to view it today as h2b has a day off, so I am praying they let us persuade them to pay our deposit there and then.

We are seriously considering changing the wedding date to get this venue as it is lovely and within our budget with food included. But I have already sent the save the date outs. I dont want to be seen as messing people about or be see as unorganised.

If you go and it really is the venue that you want, and you can do all (or most!) of the things that you want to do then go ahead, and change the date if needs be.

If you are certain then send out 'Change the Date' cards if necessary - Vistaprint do business cards for free that will do the job. People have to change plans for a multitude of reasons, and if anyone asks why then tell them that the reception venue wasn't co-operating.

If this isn't the place for you then don't panic, you've got nearly a year until your wedding, people manage to organise them in a few weeks, so please don't get stressed! Enjoy the planning - and remember, on the day you probably won't notice a whole lot of stuff that you've spent hours agonising over - that's what I've picked up from a LOT of brides on here!

Hope that you get the venue you want :D x

The last thing you want is a venue that ruins your big day, so I would change the date. We had to change the date of our wedding after we found a friend was getting married on the same day. Good luck!

Another vote for changing the date!!

The first venue sounds rubbish anyway - you want to have your day without a hundred restrictions on you (where's the fun in that!)

Try and relax - you have ages to sort things out, don't stress too much or you will wear yourself down

I wouldn't worry about changing the date. The most important thing is to find a venue you are totally comfortable with. You won't be the first person to change the date or the venue and you're giving everyone a years notice.
I would view some of the other places who didn't have your original date too, so you know that you're booking the right place for you. The venue really is more important that the actual date.

Thanks girls, well went along to the venue today and its gorgeous.

The room is lovely and the outside area is really nice lots of lovely places to take pics. The best bit...They have let us have the date we wanted, so no need to change anything. they cannot get hold of the lady who had provisionally booked the date, and as no deposit has been received, its ours!! Its all booked and paid for now. Just got to discuss menus and drinks packages a bit nearer the time.

I feel loads better now, the two main things are done and paid for...phew!

thats great news on getting the venue you wanted - although I would have said if it comes to it change the date, Im sure everyone would understand - plus its your big day not theirs you do things to suit yourself and your OH!

Good Luck with the rest of your planning - Im going to my first ever wedding exhition at the end of this month (with my photography business) and I hear they are really effective (hope to get plenty of bookings) maybe thats something you should try and do - get to as many wedding fairs and bridal shows as possible.

As the owner Ive decided to throw in some freebies if people book us at the wedding fair - so you may even pick up some freebies or bargains if you head along to them yourself!
