Thursday 30/04/09 What small dfw things have you done today???

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free;)

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D

Good morning lovely dfw'sjumping0044.gif,

Just lots of paperwork for me today at work, hopefully will get time at lunchtime to get something done in the greenhouse for an hour, lots of watering needed and a quick slug hunt.

Hugs to anyone feeling poorly or down, hope you feel better soon.HSbearhugblinkie1.gif

Today I will
  • check online banking
  • storecupboard lunch and tea
  • try for no spend day HSpray.gif
  • water veggie seedlings
  • do something from my 101 in 1001 challenge
  • sparkleHSstars.gifHSstars.gif
  • use lots of smilies to cheer me up
  • recycle something
  • one lot of laundry hokey cokey for OH
  • little bit of ironing for me
  • clean one room so no housework to do at weekend
  • update blog
  • swim and jacuzzi to use gym membership
Think that's about it for today another groundhog day today, have a lovely day everyone.

OOh Mogchops what's the production? (I love AmDram :o)

    :hello: Morning All

Apparently the forecast for the weekend is sunshine - so lots of gardening to be done :D

    So today I have/will:
    • Would be 4th NSD in a row  except I have a mystery shop to do tonight ;) (but I'll get that back.)
    • Keep looking for DD's road tax reminder. But I'll phone them and see if there would be another way to do it :o
    • scratch'n'click
    • packed lunch made, brekkie eaten so the vending machine will have no power over me :D Store cupboard supper - we have lots of potatoes......
    • housework tonight to leave the weekend clear :D using microfibre cloths and stardrops.
    • Even try out this microfibre and water method of cleaning windows.... :o
    • I don't think Quidco will pay out the 2p I've received :rotfl:
    • Update signature. :j

    Morning All,

I'm still in the early stages so lots of BIG things to do, but because it's the small things that are going to make a difference I want to get into the habit now, so hope no-one minds me joining in here?

    Today I am going to:

    - Put a pound in each of my co-op accounts so they are active
    - Check to see if my house has increased in value yet on the Halifax index and if not bite the bullet and go to repayment only.
    - Check my bank and CC online
    - Make a start on getting the stuff I've allocated to go on ebay

On the home side, me and daughter have swapped bedrooms and it looks like a war zone. I'm expecting the army any time to come and evacuate us from inbetween all the plastic boxes. I will at least sort a couple of drawers out before bedtime!

    Have a fab day!

    Hi Olive,

Its Copacabana! Slightly long story - the company I work for does a Charity pantomime every year - I've done the last 5, its fabulous fun, we perform at a proper big theatre and everyfink!! Anyhow, one of the guys I work with who does our pantos, is also in another local amdram group, so a bunch of us are going along to support him (ie sit in front row and throw tomatoes!! :rotfl:) No not really about the tomatoes.......

Am looking forward to it *at the copa, copacabana, the hottest club north of Havana......*:p

    Morning all :j

Working at home today, so not in quite such a rush, or not yet, anyway

    Today I have / will:

Check online banking - as expected

Continue to try to get hold of tenant / electrician /builder to sort out what work has been done on rented house and what still needs to be done

Phone HMRC (again) re missing tax return form - they sent one to my OH and one to a person we have never heard of, to this address, both of which arrived on same day. I have twice been assured that I would receive one by the end of the month - and haven't - unless postie happens to bring it today. Perhaps they sent mine to the address of the unknown person

NSD, as I won't be going out :D

    See to animals and plants

Make a conscious effort to do an inventory of all the food I have in (loads) and USE IT UP!! I am thinking about abandoning my traditional weekly shop, as I buy far too much. I spend loads, about £60 a week on average for two of us (plus frequently visiting and fridge-raiding grown up kids), even though I always cook from scratch - I just buy too much. I don't throw it away (heaven forbid) but have fridge, freezers (one big chest plus 1 little thing on top of fridge) and cupboards full to bursting. Perhaps go a couple of times a week and just buy what is needed rather than what I THINK I will need for the week? Even meal planning doesn't seem to dent my stocks much!
Has anybody else done this? Experiences please??

Oh, received £19.75 from Quidco :T

    HM meals from stores

Pick some more rhubarb from garden as I have just finished off the last lot. I cook it very gently in the oven with some grated ginger, rind and juice of an orange and some sugar (no water needed), and it is gorgeous! I like it with yogurt, or on my morning porridge, which everybody except me thinks is weird. I will try and do it in the slow cooker I think, to save having the oven on. It should work

Make an effort to use more salad leaves from greenhouse and purple sprouting broccoli from garden, both of which are running away out of control

Check shelf of preserves in bedroom, to see what is left and that all is keeping ok - I had forgotten about these when I mentioned bursting cupboards, freezer etc earlier  They live in the bedroom because I don't have the lovely walk in larder that I am determined to have one day :D Wonder how long it would take me to fill one of those up

Walk dogs later for free exercise

Maybe make a cake later - I made some scones yesterday but OH and DD have nearly eaten those

Oh, and do loads of work, obviously!!

Have a nice day everyone :hello:
  • Good morning all of you, well its nearly the weekend and yes i am counting!! husband at work Saturday and monday so need to start focusing on being productive, have started jotting down bits i need to do but will really think hard!!

Anyway today i may be having another NSD hopefully!!! I did my first survey last night, dont actually know how much i was paid as it was actually through a free survey well entered into a prize draw so:

oooooooo our man Martin is on GMTV at the moment talking about interne packages... such a happy man isnt he!!!

Anyway i should hurry up as need to get to work:
    • Take lunch i made last night to work
    • do lots at work
    • check survey account
    • pay money into bank
    • post ebay items
    • pay bills
    • need to continue writing list
    • buy cinema tickets for tomorrow off of internet
Hope you all have a great day!!:j
