Remortgage 4.5 X Joint Income

Hi I usually lurk on the debtfreewanabee site, but I have a question regarding remortgaging.

In August I am to be made redundant, but in September we were going to remortgage. We are tied in for 1 year with a £5000 penalty if we move before then. If I do not get a job by then, we will have to rely on just tax credits and my husbands income.

Does anyone know of a high street bank with a good rate that will give us a remortgage at 4.5 times my husbands income + tax credits?

All answers would be appreciated.

Go through your situation with a broker, Face to Face is better and someone local to you.

Some lenders will look at income multiples, others will look at your ability to repay or affordability.

His experience and knowledge of the marketplace will be able to guide you to who will look at your case for you.

Don't try applying to many different lenders yourself as this will result in a number of credit searches being registered against your name.

Ask friends or Family to recommend a broker to you, failing that, look in your local pages.

    Hope this helps

    Couldn't agree more-

Let the broker do the hard work so that you can concentrate on selecting which deal is right for you.

@ Andy- see your reaching the lofty hights of an "ever so regular" now!!

Trust all's well- catch up with you for a natter some time.
I am a fee charging WoM Mortgage broker.
I now no longer give information and opinion within the Mortgage boards, because a number of posters who, having approached me professionally, agreed my fee-which has been been made very clear at the outset, taken my advice (normally cancelling a [home visit] meeting at short notice) have then approached one of the fee-free brokers on here to arrange the very same deal I have advised.
Whilst I totally concur with the ethos of "money saving"- abusing the goodwill of a professional who provides a quality service is taking it too far!

    Hi SS,

    Nice to see you.

It's very busy at the moment, almost unrelenting. Must'nt complain though :)

Yes we really must catch up and have a real  sometime.

I was up your way a couple of weeks ago I think. Place just the other side of Silverstone near the M1

Just about to launch the Business Mortgage Division which is exciting. 2 weeks to go

Give me a bell when you get a minute and set up a beer and some golf etc :rotfl:

Thank you all for your replies. At least there is hope if I do not get another job. And thank you Andy, I will definitely be in touch with a broker.
