Struggling to reclaim tax from the last tax year!

in Cutting tax
Hi,
I am struggling to reclaim tax from the last tax year 08/09.
I left a job that I had been working in part time and had perhaps only earned £400 in. The employer never gave me a P45 and still hasnt since last august. I have tried to get one out of them but no luck. The IR were no help and have made no progress on my behalf.
Now the company seems to have gone bust and I cant get a P45.
How can I claim my tax back?
Thanks!

Can you use your last pay slip which should include your cumulative amount of pay for the year together with all tax paid.
As far as calculating the amount owed to you, I think you need to complete a P50.0 -
HMRC will not accept payslips, but they should have received part 1 of the P45 from your employer on which they can make the refund. Yu need to ring HMRC and ask them if they have this form and if not, have they received the P35 (employer's end of year return) for ths company? You need to questin them and pin them down - make them give you definite answers - they can't just be no hep.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

The problem is that they never issued a P45 so the IR have no record of me leaving, I also never recieved any pay slips when I was working for them.0

Have you asked HMRC whether they have received a P35 for this employer?£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0
