New Car Radio/CD Player

My daughter has just bought her first car and would like to kit it out with a top of the art radio / cd player at the lowest best price. Does anyone have any ideas?

I would have a very happy girlie if I could get a good response

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't bother with a top of the range, otherwise you'll need a top of the range alarm to go with it.

https://www.ebuyer.com they have a really nice one on there by a company called "Parrot" I think: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=106342 £140inc VAT + Delivary, or just check out the other ones on eBuyer, Parrot is a lesser known brand but I saw that cd player last night and decided that I want one

I recently bought a Kenwood KDC-W707 for the girlfriend which is, I think, the mutt's nuts. But... so did someone else when they tried to steal it last week :(. It is a CD Tuner with MP£ capability.

Anyway, dealers on Ebay have got these for a very good price at the moment - £140 (RRP is about £250). It's got a number of cool features, including a "D-MASK" system where the front panel of the stereo swivels round 180 degrees and hides itself from prying eyes when switched off. That said, the front panel is also removeable which is the best bet if you are leaving the car somewhere dodgy or for a long time.

Kenwood also provide free insurance if someone does steal it while the front panel is removed, which is slightly reassuring.

If you give an indication of how much you intend to pay it'd help - after all state of the art car audio systems can cost many, many hundreds of pounds...

I would recommend a JVC-KDG612. Amazingly easy to use, and comes with a tiny remote too, which is nice. Easy display, MP3/WMA playback etc. I know someone (me, hehe) who is selling theirs on eBay at the moment for only £79.99!

But yes, they are only £130ish from an Online retailer. Cant get it in the shops, but can get the silver version in Halfords for £200 or so

Fitting is really easy... Even I was able to do it!! :)

Good luck if you decide to use ebuyer. They are a particularly nasty and hard to get-a-hold-of company.

Personally i've bought all my cd players from ebay used, you can generally get them a lot cheaper than the shops and are always in good condition and pretty easy to fit yourself as long as you buy a branded one (kenwood, jvc, sony etc) as they only have an iso block fitting, the days of millions of wires to connect are long gone.
