i searched for L&C and found 3 relevant threads and posted in each because i felt it relevant.
the terms actually slightly different having just checked so you're right there but its marginal and both with abbey.
Abbey 2yr 5.19% £1250 fees (L&C get £875)
Abbey 2yr 5.49% £250 fees.0 -
but its a different rate, are you sure thats not the reason why the fees are different?0

exactly right, you save £1000 but pay 0.3% more for 2 years. Which is "best" will depend on the size of the loan but you shouldn't go running folk down when you are not presenting the true picture. L&C would still get £875 from the £250 dealI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser code of conduct. try comparing like for like next time. L&C will offer both of those. What makes you think that L&C are getting the difference?
For larger mortgages, the £1250 fee is better value than the £250 fee. They are different deals for different people.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). See this apple, why doesn't it taste and look like this orange?
Bloody greengrocers trying to rip me off.
Abbey 2 yr 5.19% costs £1250 to get into whether you go direct or via L&C
Abbey 2 yr 5.49% costs £250 to get into whether you go direct or via L&C
2 completely different products with different charging structures. As it happens the 5.19% deal is cheaper than the 5.49% deal overall even when you account for adding the higher fees to the loan.
Lesson learned is to ensure you have all the facts correct before posting incorrect information on a public forum like this one.0 -
We used LandC to remortgage last year and we will definitely be using them again when our fixed rate is due up next year. They (in our opinion) present the big picture and are not afraid to say what the advantages and disadvantages are of certain deals. We found them to be efficient , knowledgeable and yes they did answer our calls by call back , which is fine by us.0

The is the precise case. It is like saying that you are not happy because a Ford Mondeo ST400 costs more than a Ford Mondeo 1.8LX.
Both from the same provider and both similar products. It is the specification that is making the price difference. Same with the Abbey products quoted above. Same provider, similar products, different specification or pricing structure.0 -
fair enough i stand corrected.0
