Silicon bakeware on QVC

I have a friend who bought some cheaper stuff and its a lot thinner than mine and tends to shrink when away from the sides of cakes etc and leave a hard crust. This never happens with my thicker versions from QVC. False economy maybe?

At £17.41 for 3 these are just about the most expensive I've come across.
Even the ones in Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys & Morrisons would work out cheaper.
I've got a selection of the Home Bargains ones, all just £1.99 each, and they are fine.
No problems at all with Muffins, Yorkshire Puddings, Bread, Victoria Sponge, Mince Pies, various Tarts, etc. etc. ..you name it. Even roasts meat and potatoes fine and it never sticks.
As for your friends that "tends to shrink when away from the sides of cakes etc and leave a hard crust" I can't see how the silicon can shrink - I'd suggest that probably the cake mixture or cooking method is at fault.

Well I probably described it wrongly, after all, it isn't my silicon bakeware that is the problem, just hers! And as she is 53 and has been baking cakes all her life, I doubt it is her mixture or cooking method!
Anyway, to me this was a bargain! I was not forcing anyone to buy it, and besides, the offer is over now so I hope everyone who wanted some, got some!
Sometimes it really just is false economy to buy cheaply, and other times it works out fine, that's life I guess.:rotfl:
