girlfriend and her mum - joint mortgage?

My GF's mum has a house with no mortgage.
She has offered to lend us some money if she can re-mortgage it.
She is not working at the moment but has income of 10k pa from her husbands (dec'd) pension.
the question is, will my Gf and her mum be able to take out a joint morgage to increase the amount that can be borrowed even tho' my gf's name is not on the deeds?
thanks

No. If your GF is not on the deeds, she does not own the house, so therefore can not take out a mortgage secured on it.poppy100

some lenders will allow this...it's a situation called "borrower non proprietor".
If you are borrowing the money to use as a deposit for your own home then the mortgage with GF's mum will be taken into account for affordability purposes when you guys apply for your own mortgage.Happily an ex mortgage broker!0
