Cancelled phone line, now no internet

Hi People

I need some advice, Ive cancelled my BT line rental as we were paying £15 a month and never used the phone as we had mobiles and the line was always crackly.
But now we cant get the wireless internet access (madasafish)

I take it, thats because we have no line or is it because the line goes through a little box that goes into the phone.

If I need the phone reconnected is there anyone else I could use thats cheeper than BT. We dont have sky.

Yep you just disabled your own internet there!

Broadband (ADSL) which is what you had works over a standard phone line. No one else will reconnect you but BT. Even if you had Sky your connection fee would be from BT and then billing via Sky if you let them take over your line.

You could go with Virgin (Cable) if you have it in your area. It doesn't work over phone lines so you would only need to pay for the internet bill...

You'll have to do a price comparison as I think it may be cheaper to have a BT phone line and ADSL broadband than it would be having just Virgin broadband, well it would have been anyway without the cost of reconnection. Woops.

I think BT are doing free reconnections at the moment. I think it was mentioned on the weekly mailing last week.

Looks like 9.99 a month then

No, looks like £11.25 a month! This is the cheapest; -

BT Calling plans

Unlimited Weekend Plan. Only £11.25 a month line rental with Direct Debit and paper-free billing, for new and existing residential customers making at least one chargeable call a month with BT.

You had better check that the internet will come back if you reconnect. If your number changes then you most certainly will lose it. Your ISP may charge you to reconnect.

You could also sign up with Talktalk, although some people decry this company, I have to say they have been excellent and I will be renewing my contract with them. They supply phone line, broadband free evening calls and free international calls after 6pm.
