Cheap Alkaline Batteries at Maplin

Maplin are currently offering their Assorted Battery box half price at £9.99. This box is usually £19.99 and I bought a set at that price because it's great value. Now at half price it's a bargain and I shall be ordering some immediately!
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?TabID=1&ModuleNo=45506&doy=13m3
The box contains:
32 x AA (Walkman size)
16 x AAA (smaller than Walkman - usually for remote controls etc.)
4 x D (big torch batteries)
4 x C (half size torch batteries - often used in portable boom boxes etc.)
4 x 9v (the little square ones for smoke alarms and guitar pedals)
Keep a set of these around the house and you'll always have batteries on call for that new gadget or the smoke alarm when it starts bleeping.

Tim,
Hey, thanks for that one - I was looking for some cheap batteries at the weekend and drew a blank! Great for the kids' MP3 players etc.Can I help?0 -
Poundland are doing 18 Hyundai AA's for (you guessed it) £1 which I think is pretty decent0
-
If it's only for mp3 players you may be better off with the 'AAA' - 40 pack @ £7.99

Don't forget that the batteries on offer at Maplin are Alkaline.

The cheap batteries at the pound shops are OK, but the big packs are always the inferior zinc oxide types - alkaline will last many times longer.0 -
Why don't you buy rechargeables? Much cheaper in the long run, and are you really happy piling all those heavy metals into the landfill sites?Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

Unless rechargables have improved over the years, they were always more trouble than they were worth, in my opinion (and in my memory too)

They have improved by leaps and bounds over the years - just look at their capacities now compared with then. The chargers are also much better, and both batteries and chargers are much cheaper. There's really no excuse for using dry cells in high and medium-drain applications such as the MP3 players mentioned earlier.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

I have recently bought ultra fast charger (uniross), however the charged battery (AAA) only a few hours wireless mouse. Do you think if my charge is faulty.0

don't forget - you can recycle your dead batteries at Ikea if you council doesn't0
