Hi All,
I applied for a Halifax loan online, got the message to call and was advised I had been accepted. Is this 100% or can it be declined? I was offered the courier option for paper work but at £70 to N.Ireland declined the courier option. Since then a Friend has advised this can be declined at any stage so was wondering if anyone can tell Me if this is definite or can still be declined.
Thank You in advance.:o

With any loan I think it's fair to say you can only be sure you will get it when you see the money in your bank account. Often they will tell you you've been accepted, when you have only actually been "pre-approved". Unfortunately your friend is right.0

Thanks for your quick response. I was very naive and actually believed this was guaranteed. Silly Me.0

If you applied on line and then phoned in and spoke to a member of staff you have been accepted and the rate you were told by the member of staff will not now change as the application will have already been underwritten...
unless...
...you weren't entirely honest with your application and it gets picked up by vetting for further checks when your documents come back! This is more likely to happen if you are self-employed. If you do get a phone call asking for further info get any proofs back asap.
Even if they do request further info the rate still won't change - they are just looking for further ID, etc.
If you are an existing Halifax or Bank of Scotland customer - full bank account, credit card or loan - then you will have already been verified. I work for a loan company - I do not post to represent the Company view or to promote their products or services. Please be nice to me!:eek:0 -
when i had a loan a few years ago,it was the same, that i had a choice of courier delivery of the paperwork and was told all the rates etc..it meant i had got the loan .i applied on line and had to ring them so it was exactly the same happenings as you and was successful!0
