Fed up with Job Centre Today!

I am so annoyed, I went to sign on today and when I was there I asked if they could help me with a vetting form that I was having trouble with. The person that signs me on says he couldn't do anything and to go ask at reception. I went to the reception and asked them, after some umming and ahhhing over my request they said they couldn't help me with it because it was nothing to do with the job centre or DWP and I should go to the citizens advice beuraeu.

In all seriousness, what is the job centre there for apart from signing on and telling me that I'm under investigation because I might not be entitled to job seekers allowance. I would have thought they would be trained on giving people advice?

    Targets targets targets.
every person who works in the job cenhtre has a target of how many people they see or deal with. Every interaction is given a nominal time and anything outside that means an enquiry as to what took so long. More people are booked in than can be seen which means there is no spare capacity in the system. What the receptionist told you is true in afraid. The Citizens advice centre or similar is your best bet in future

Blame the bosses not the workers

You are soo right, i work at a jobcentre and we are allocated so much time to see anyone. At the end of the interview we then have to fill in a log as to what we have done with that person and if what we have seen them for isn't on the list we get a No positive activity mark!!!!!!! i hate AAT!!!!

You might be surprised to know that the person who signs you on has only 4 minutes to see each person. They have pressure put on them to do so by management and are expected to see more and more people due to the recession.

That is why they are not able to help you fill in forms that have nothing at all to do with them.
