sewing ideas needed

I bought some long legged sleeveless pyjamas last week, that just wasn't comfy to sleep in, so won't be wearing them again. So I want to use them to make other items. They are white with lots of coloured spots on them and would co-ordinate with my kitchen/diner, but not sure if there is anything I could use in the kitchen apart from these two ideas

I have thought of making 2 draft excluders from the legs as one posibility.
Perhaps a cusion cover from the top, but this would have lots of mini buttons down it, so not sure.

Any ideas for any more uses? Doen't have to be just kitchen, am I may make something to give away as a present.

Thanks in advance
Sandra

How about a peg bag from the top? Cut the sleeves off & sew up the sides going straight from the top of the shoulder down to however long you want it to be. Then sew up the front where the buttons are, leaving a couple undone to get your hand in and out of it ;) and put a coat hanger into the shoulders then catch up a few threads by hand on either side of the hanger to keep it secure.

I hope that this makes sense :rotfl: I used to make these for friends & family out of outgrown baby dresses from my DD, almost 17 years ago :D

Depending on how baggy the legs are they could make an ironing board cover
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

how about a hot water bottle cover. draw round a hot water bottle, and add a seam allowance, you dont even need buttons, if you use a flap or velcro.

or air freshners, cut 2 love heart shapes, sew together leaving a gap, and add lavendar or cinnamon, you could even add a ribbon, to hang up with.

Could you make dusters/clothes from them?

    Or tea towels?

    What about an oven glove?

    Some nice ideas here. :T
You could make an apron & matching pot holder. That would make a good present for someone if you don't wear aprons yourself.

I love dismantling things I no longer wear & turning them into something useful. I'm in the process of turning a pair of summer trousers into a pretty skirt at the moment.

I made some draw string bags a la Cath Kidston and use them to store rolls of cling film, foil etc in. Smaller ones hold pastry cutters.
I bought cup hooks from Wilkinsons to hang them on ...shabby chic and effective!

thanks for all the fabulous ideas. I think I will have a mull over and decide what to do. I shall make and post what i've made on my blog. May not be for a while as i'm moving in 2 weeks, but this gives me time to decide on what items to make.

    thanks
