Hey
When I use the tool it says the tax free allowance is 10k. I thought it was 10,600 like the gov.uk website says. I feel like I'm missing something. Why is there this difference?
Can anyone help me out?0 -
It gives £10600 for me, are you sure you are not inputting the wrong tax year ?0
-
ooops. Yep, I was looking at the year 2014/15 and mistakenly thought the allowance was 10,600 for then too. I looked it up and the allowance then was 10k, as the tool says.0

Yes you will pay tax - the tax year is 2015/16 and ends April 5 2016, you will have learnt over £10600Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

The new tax calculator doesn't give me the option to add my Student loan? Also it states I won't pay any national insurance??? Why? I am very confused!0

Are the NI contributions going up for 2016/17? Seems to show me paying more than I do currently by just under £7.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0

Hi, does anyone know why no tax is being taken out when I use the calculator? Its only giving me a final figure in pocket with NI deducted but £0 tax?0
-
You can usually earn more wage/salary before you need to pay tax compared to nic.
Could simply be you are earning enough to pay nic but not enough to have to pay any tax?
But as you havent supplied any actual earnings amounts then it will be difficult for anyone to give any meaningful help/advice0
