    Firstly are you sure you want a financial advisor and not a mortage broker? (I ask because you have put your question on the mortgage board.)

    What area are you in? Your location is shown as "In fairyland with fluffy pink fairies"!

    I don't know any IFA's in fairyland!

    ?? Maybe I posted on the wrong board - we have come in to some money, enough to pay off our mortgage (leaving £1 owing as advised by our mortgage company) but we want to invest/save/do something with the rest and would appreciate some advice.

    Go to https://www.unbiased.co.uk and put in your postcode. You can also select particular areas of advice you need. The site will then show you the closest few IFAs

    ask friends end relartives, we did this and our mortgage broker was recommended by a friend of a friend of a friend

    you get the gist

    anyway he was great, people will soon tell you who they had a bad experience with as well
    Well we finally did it got a house not on a main road, next a railway line or any other werid and wonderful things that get on my nerves!!!

    Claz - tried asking who you suggested - I've either not got many friends (sad eh) or no-one uses a IFA. Seriously, no-one I know has had a good one they would recommend!
